Community Organizing

There are a number of resources available to assist groups to organize locally around environmental issues. These resources can help groups get started, assist them to secure funding and gain media attention, and support efforts to pursue local projects such as community based air quality monitoring.

Helpful sources include Environment Canada’s guide Community Environmental Projects: From Needs Assessment to Evaluation; Not for Profit, You Say! An Operations Manual for Canadian Non-Profit Organizations (by Rosemary Gahlinger-Beaune) and the Alberta Environmental Law Centre’s Community Action on Air Quality package.

For a detailed list of these and other sources please see Links and Other Resources.
